RUAN JOOSTE
Ruan Jooste, a contemporary digital
artist born and raised in Nigel,
Gauteng, South Africa, has always
sought creative outlets from a
young age. Initially drawn to fashion
design, he later shifted his focus
to photography, teaching himself
the necessary skills. This blend of
fashion and photography experience
has culminated in his unique digital
art practice.
As a self-taught digital artist,
Jooste combines elements from
his background in fashion and
photography to create vibrant and
dynamic digital paintings. His works
often feature playful blends of
luxury fashion elements and iconic
South African brands, evoking
a sense of nostalgia and shared
cultural memories. Jooste’s art is
characterized by its celebration of
South African life, capturing the

artistic vision. In 2021, Jooste had his Ruan Jooste’s art invites viewers into
first solo exhibition in Cape Town,
titled “Kiff Khaya,” which received
widespread acclaim. His work has
been featured on the cover of the
Sunday Times Lifestyle section
and in Art Times magazine. He
has exhibited in various prestigious
locations, including the Paris AKAA
Art Fair and New York .
His art is part of notable collections,
such as the official RMB collection,
and has been featured in auctions
by Strauss & Co. Jooste is currently
in Cape Town, where he continues
to captivate audiences with his digital
creations. His works are celebrated
for their charm, sass, and a touch
of magic realism, all rooted in the
vibrant, urban grit of South African
culture .
