Maureen Visagé

“Little Dancer, Come Play with Us”

Maureen Visagé, a respected artist hailing from

the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa,
harbors an unwavering passion for the creation
of art. Using vibrant colors and bold strokes, she
skillfully fashions whimsical ceramic and bronze
                  figurines.

Her artistic expressions serve as a jubilant
tribute to love, joy, feminine strength, and the
inherent beauty woven into life itself. Maureen’s
inspiration springs from the tapestry of
everyday existence, blending elements of quiet

contemplation, a touch of nostalgia, and a wealth
of character. Her work achieves a remarkable
balance, offering a sense of familiarity, depth,
                  and emotional resonance.

‘Little Dancer, Come Play With Us’ is a
                  formidable and enchanting life-size bronze
sculpture that stands as a testament
                  to Maureen’s diverse inspirations and

                  exceptional talents.
       ‘‘

A substantial portion of my work portrays

                  the innocence
and wonder of children, especially girls. Girls are
just magic, someone once told me when I was
expecting my own. It is this magic that I love to
                  capture.

‘Little Dancer, Come Play With Us’ was inspired
by Degas’s Little Dancer. This captivating bronze
sculpture has been one of my favorite artworks
since I was very young. Out of my love for this
work grew my own little dancers.

The mischievousness of the bubblegum adds a
quirky playfulness, evoking nostalgia for our own
                  youthful days.
Creating her was an absolute joy, and I believe
she represents the pinnacle of my work based on
                  the little dancer. ‘‘
